If only we were this clever and talented, we wouldn’t have to steal this video. Alas, we hope you enjoy this as much as we did. Goodness knows if you can’t laugh at motherhood, you would go crazy. If you aren’t familiar with the song from which this was parodied, check out Meghan Trainor’s song “All About That Bass”.
Okay, this is a little gross, but we couldn’t resist. Click here and enjoy!
A new era has begun in late night television. The hilarious Jimmy Fallon has taken the reigns of The Tonight Show. If this clip of the Evolution of Hip-Hop Dancing is any indication of subsequent shows, we will definitely be setting the DVR (because we can’t be expected to stay awake that late!). Enjoy a good laugh, and dance a little. You know you want to!
Heart disease is the #1 cause of death for women. Here is a video that is an eye-opening lesson to all of us. However, it lacks the morbid vision that perhaps we have learned to ignore. Are you skeptical that a video about having a heart attack could be funny? Stop, take 3 minutes and watch this, laugh at us women, but be sure to learn from it.
I have always wanted to do a time capsule as a family and FINALLY we did it! Rather than commemorate large quantities of the world’s events, I chose to have my family reflect on 2013 as it affected our house of seven.I used an aluminum cylinder with a lid (it was a Pepperidge Farm pirouette cookies can), wrapped it in printed paper, gave it a couple of labels and donned it with a bow. Inside were some of our top pics for our family’s year as well as some things I thought would be fun to review in 10 years. It seems like a long way away, but something tells me it will be here before we know it.
Here are a few things we included:
- Each child’s “signature” and what they each think they will be doing in 10 years. That’s gonna be fun to look at.
- A plastic mustache
- A Rainbow Loom bracelet
- A picture of all of us in the hospital when Elizabeth was born
- A paint brush and paint swatch (we had our whole house painted and it took ALL SUMMER!)
- A picture of Baby George and the young royal family (the little prince was a big deal in our house since we had a baby this summer too)
- A Spain flag (our good friends moved there in 2013 and we miss them)
- + more.
Junie B. Jones – The “B” stands for Beatrice, but today we are calling the author of the Junie B. Jones series, Barbara Park our “B”eloved favorite. Ms. Park recently died of ovarian cancer at the age of 66. When my husband read aloud this headline to our children while perusing the news, our girls had tears in their eyes. Emily and Elaina’s first chapter books were the hilarious Junie B. Jones series. Junie B’s “huffy breath”, wise cracks and less-than-perfect way with the English language have had our entire family in stitches. I can recall more than one occasion where reading could commence only after the laughter ceased. With titles like Stupid Smelly Bus and Sneeky Peeky Spying, my boys (ages 5 & 6) are anxious to delve into the world of the precocious kindergartener.
“I’ve never been sure whether Junie B.’s fans love her in spite of her imperfections…or because of them. But either way, she’s gone out into the world and made more friends than I ever dreamed possible.” – Barbara Park
In memory of Barbara Park and her delightfully funny character, Junie B. Jones, read one of over 30 books and visit the official Junie B. Jones website for loads of fun. Be prepared to laugh out loud!!! To Ms. Park, Thank You and God Bless You!
